Upon Arrival: First day

 
1. The first thing you must know is that exchanging money costs money. The charge for money exchange is 50 NOK, no matter how much you exchange. ie. whether you exchange 100 EURO or 500 EURO, it will cost the same (50 NOK). So, it would be better for you to exchange a large sum at once. You will be needing it anyway as EURO is not accepted in the stores in Norway. Also if you are more than 1 person, you can collect your money and exchange it together. Otherwise, you will be charged 50 NOK each if you do it separately.

2. Another thing is about the train ticket at the airport. If you are a student, make sure that you buy the ticket at student discount, it will be a lot more cheaper and its legal too! You have to have the original admission sent to you by a Norwegian college ready in case someone asks for it. We travelled from the Airport to Oslo and we were not asked for it. 3. Don’t hesitate to ask for directions! People in Norway speak English and they will help you out if you ask. Ask about anything:



- which way does the train for Oslo go?
- how can I get to <this> place?
 
These are the main things that you will have to remember for the first day in Norway. Just gain some confidence by talking around, and if you decide to walk around, note down the exact address of where you are staying. You never be lost that way.
